We’re a multigenerational group carrying forward a long tradition of close harmony, camaraderie, and musical craft.
Meet the Group!
-
Ben Bayers
Tenor 1 — Vice President & Music Committee Chairman
Ben brings structure, curiosity, and musical momentum to the group, shaped in part by his time singing with the Fairfield University Bensonians. He balances leadership with a genuine love of close harmony, helping guide the group forward while making sure the process stays fun. If there’s a musical idea worth exploring, Ben has probably already thought about it—and is ready to try it.

RJ Berardi
PERCUSSION & BASS
RJ anchors the low end while occasionally deciding that rhythm is just as important as pitch. When he’s not laying down a confident bass line, he’s adding percussive texture that gives the music a little extra pulse. By day, he works at Whalers—by night, he’s providing the kind of rhythmic grounding that makes the rest of the group feel locked in. RJ’s also a Benonian! -
Mark De Riemer
TENOR 2
Mark carries a strong collegiate a cappella pedigree from The Colgate 13, where precision and blend were paramount. He brings that same discipline and impeccable timing to his other competitive passion: pickleball (and yes, he’s a tournament winner). In the Off Sounders, Mark anchors the group from the heart of the chord, a living testament to the power of excellent fundamentals. Swoon. -
H. Peet Foster
TENOR 2 — TREASURER
Peet brings precision both musically and organizationally, which is convenient because harmony and accounting oddly share a love of balance. Whether fine-tuning a line or keeping the books in order, he does it with good humor and a steady hand. He insists the two roles are completely unrelated. We’re not convinced. -
Finley Harckham
TENOR 2
Finley’s Off Sounders story has been a long one, starting well before the current lineup. He grew up singing with the Greenwich Choral Society, where he first sang alongside Buzz—long before either of them knew they’d still be harmonizing years later. During college, Finley sang with the Off Sounders as part of The Accidentals A Cappella Group, a chapter that also happens to overlap with Tim’s singing years. Today, Finley serves as the group’s Gigmeister, keeping performances organized while continuing to add warmth and continuity to the ensemble’s sound.
-
Ed Krumeich
BARITONE
Ed brings a steady, thoughtful presence to the baritone section, shaped by a career spent listening closely and weighing details—skills that serve both a judge and a harmony singer well. He’s also a natural storyteller, known for introductions that take the scenic route before arriving exactly where they should. Whether anchoring the middle of the chord or setting the stage with a well-earned anecdote, Ed reminds the group that good stories, like good music, are worth the buildup.
-
James Laird
BARITONE — PRESIDENT
James brings steady leadership and a genuine love of community to the Off Sounders, both on and off the risers. In addition to singing baritone here, he also sings alongside Buzz in the Greenwich Choral Society, continuing a shared musical thread that runs well beyond this group. When he’s not leading rehearsals or shaping the ensemble’s direction, James is known for hosting an exceptional barbecue—proving that good harmony, like good cooking, benefits from patience, care, and bringing people together.
-
Peter Lyons
BASS
Peter’s grounding presence in the bass section pairs naturally with his work in corporate wellness and his skill as an exceptional yoga instructor. A former Fairfield University Bensonians singer, Peter brings an emphasis on breath, balance, and being fully present—qualities that benefit both harmony and humans. The music tends to settle once Peter settles in.
-
Drew Maphey
TENOR 1
Drew is the youngest member of the group—and occasionally the one who reminds everyone why people fall quiet when a truly compelling voice enters the room. The kind of singer who makes you stop mid-thought and just listen, Drew balances that musical presence with a day job as a software engineer. He sang with the St. Lawrence Singing Saints, where he also crossed paths musically with JQ, proving early on that strong harmony tends to travel in good company.
-
Tim McDermott
BASS
Tim sings bass. It’s because he has long hair. If you have long hair and you sing, the rule is you must sing bass. I don’t make the rules.
Tim sang with the Accidentals at Trinity College!
-
Frank (Buzz) Moore
TENOR 1
Buzz is a beloved part of the Off Sounders story, carrying both experience and enthusiasm into every rehearsal. His tenor lines are confident, expressive, and grounded in a deep love of close harmony. When Buzz sings, the piano rings in agreement. Hear, hear.
-
JQ Norrgard
TENOR 1
JQ brings focus, musicality, and a finely tuned sense of blend to the top line. He sang alongside Drew with the St. Lawrence Singing Saints, forming a musical partnership that continues here with the Off Sounders. Attentive to detail but never precious about it, JQ helps keep the tenor sound both polished and alive.
-
Robby Schwartz
BASS — MUSIC DIRECTOR
Robby is an exceptional Music Director and arranger who truly gets it—the sound, the people, and the balance between precision and joy. His musical roots include singing with the Bensonians, an experience that shaped both his arranging sensibilities and collaborative style. As a bass, he anchors the ensemble; as a leader, he gives it room to grow, refine, and occasionally surprise itself.
